The team has developed the BotBot scanner, which it said offers “the most advanced robotic scanning capabilities in the industry today”.

“We work closely with the vegetative stem cells in our lab, as these cells are just starting to be used as research tools in biotechnology,” said Dr Paco Vianello, the principal investigator on the project.

“We have developed an advanced scanning platform that can be used for both precision and speed in slicing the cells and letting the machines do the rest.

“We hope that our BotBot robot will allow us to grow vegetables from stem cells much faster and more precisely, at a much lower cost than conventional technologies
